ऐतिहासिक चीजों का महत्व, उनके तरीके मानव के लिए कोतुहल का विषय बनते हैं,और यह हमें अपनी संस्कृति को जानने में भी मदद करती हैं अल्मोड़ा जिले की तिखौन पट्टी के अंतर्गत छाना गांव में एक व्यक्ति के पास से 424 साल पुराना दुर्लभ ताम पत्र मिला है। माना जा रहा है कि यह ताम पत्र तत्कालीन चंद शासक रूद्र चंद ने थाना गांव के तिवारी परिवार के एक पूर्वज को दिया था। इसमें तीन वीसी भूमि लगभग 450 नाली दान करने का आदेश दिया गया था। अमर उजाला की एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक राज्य पुरातत्व विभाग की टीम ने मौके पर पहुंचकर इस महत्वपूर्ण ताम्रपत्र को अपने रिकॉर्ड में दर्ज कर लिया है।क्षेत्रीय पुरातत्व अधिकारी डॉ चंद्र सिंह चौहान को कुछ माह पहले तिखौन पट्टी के छाना गांव में एक व्यक्ति के पास दुर्लभ होने की जानकारी मिली थी, सटीक जानकारी नहीं मिल पाने के कारण पुरातत्व विभाग की टीम को व्यक्ति तक पहुंचने में काफी समय लग गया। अमर उजाला ने डॉ चन्द्र सिंह चौहान के हवाले से लिखा है कि छाना गांव के मोहन चन्द्र तिवारी के घर में यह दुर्लभ ताम्र पत्र मिला। शाके 1518 (1596 ई.) के इस ताम्र पत्र को तत्कालीन राजा रूद्रचन्द ने तिवारी परिवार के पूर्वज त्याड़ी (तिवारी) को दिया था। इसमें तिखौन पट्टी में उन्हें तीन वीसी(लगभग 450 नाली) भूमि दान में देने का आदेश है। भूमि दान के इस ताम्र पत्र में राज परिवार के लखी चंद (राजा रूद्रचन्द के पुत्र लक्ष्मण चन्द) सहित 16 लोगों को गवाह बनाया गया था। सभी लोगों के नाम भी ताम्र पत्र में दर्ज हैं।
